Protect Your Sprinkler System Before Boise Freezes

Professional sprinkler blowouts clear trapped water from your system—helping prevent freeze damage, hidden leaks, and costly repairs when spring arrives.

Winterize your irrigation system

Winterizing now helps prevent expensive spring repairs.

When water is left in a sprinkler system, it can freeze as temperatures fall—expanding inside pipes, valves, manifolds, backflow parts, and sprinkler components. That expansion can crack fittings, break valves, and damage lines you can’t see.

The damage often stays hidden all winter. When the system is turned on in spring, weakened parts can fail under pressure and cause leaks, soggy areas, wasted water, and expensive repairs.

A professional blowout clears trapped water, relieves pressure, and prepares the system for freezing weather.

Don’t wait for a big leak—protect your yard and your budget.

What’s Included in a Professional Sprinkler Blowout

We follow a careful, zone-by-zone process to protect your irrigation system and property.

1

Inspect & Review

We review the shutoff, zones, access points, and system layout before beginning.

2

Connect the Compressor

The air supply is connected at the appropriate point for your irrigation system.

3

Clear Every Zone

Each zone is activated separately to clear trapped water from lateral lines and heads.

4

Manage Air Pressure

Airflow and pressure are controlled to protect valves, fittings, and sprinkler components.

5

Backflow Care

Backflow-related components are drained and positioned appropriately for winter.

6

Final Walk-Through

We complete a final system check and leave the irrigation controls winter-ready.

Don’t skip the blowout

Skip a blowout? It can turn into a big leak.

Trapped water freezes and expands, potentially cracking pipes, valves, manifolds, backflow parts, and sprinkler components. Damage may stay hidden until spring, then cause serious water loss when the system is pressurized.

Protect your home and budget

Hidden freeze damage becomes a hidden cost.

What looks like a small crack in winter can lead to repairs, damaged landscaping, and wasted water. A professional blowout now helps prevent bigger problems later.

Helpful answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a sprinkler blowout important in Boise?

Water left in sprinkler lines, valves, manifolds, and backflow components can freeze and expand. Winterizing before sustained freezing weather helps reduce the risk of cracked components, hidden leaks, and costly spring repairs.

Can skipping a blowout cause leaks or freeze damage?

Yes. Trapped water can freeze and expand inside irrigation components. Damage may remain hidden through winter and appear when the system is pressurized again in spring, potentially causing leaks, soggy areas, water loss, or failed components.

How long does a blowout take?

Timing depends on the size of the property, number of zones, irrigation layout, and access. Most residential systems are completed during one scheduled service visit.

Can a blowout be included in a subscription plan?

Subscription options can include seasonal sprinkler startup and blowout service along with additional maintenance benefits, depending on the selected plan.

Do you blow out backflow devices too?

The winterization process includes attention to irrigation components that may retain water, including backflow-related components when appropriate for the system.

When should I schedule my blowout?

Schedule before sustained freezing weather arrives. Booking early also helps secure a preferred appointment during the busy fall winterization season.

How soon will I hear from Boise Sprinkler Guy after submitting my service request?

You will receive an email confirming your request was submitted. It will include important details of what to expect. You will receive an email notification for your scheduled visit 5–7 days ahead of the appointment. You will also receive text reminders for your visit. If we have cancellations or openings, we may contact you to possibly fill that spot. During our busiest times—Blowout Season or Spring Start Ups—it may take 3–4 weeks to get you scheduled. We appreciate your patience during these times. Feel free to text or email us to check in on your appointment.

What if no one can be home for our appointment?

No problem! You do not need to be home for your scheduled visit. We usually need access to your sprinkler timer to diagnose issues or test our repairs. As long as you have communicated any instructions for access to the timer, gates will be open, and pets will not be in the yard, we can usually complete the work while you’re away. If we encounter any issues, we will let you know!
